On June 22nd, Flemington Councilperson Betsy Driver wowed a New York City crowd at the NY Pride Rally during her speech at the infamous Stonewall National Monument.  This year's rally was held at the original site of the first pride rally held in 1969 in Washington Square Park,  one month after the Stonewall Riots.

In November of last year, Driver was elected to Flemington Borough Council and is the first openly intersex person elected to public office.  On June 11, 2018, Driver was instrumental in leading Borough Council to adopt a resolution declaring June to be Pride Month in Flemington.  An "unofficial" celebration will take place on June 30th at the Filling Station.  Betsy inspired High Bridge Councilwoman Natalie Ferry to also lead the charge in High Bridge and they too have officially adopted June as Pride Month.
