County Committee Elections Postponed to 2021

We at the NJDSC are announcing two new actions intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19/Coronavirus. These steps are being taken in accordance with an Executive Order announced by Governor Phil Murphy regarding upcoming elections.

NJDSC is waiving the signature requirement for Presidential campaign district and alternate delegate candidates and is also advising all County Democratic Parties that have County Committee elections scheduled for June to extend their terms until 2021.

We all need to do our part to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of the Coronavirus, and these two common sense actions are being made to limit the need for canvassing and other personal contact by campaigns in the coming months. Taken together with the Governor’s announcements regarding upcoming school board and municipal elections moving entirely to vote by mail, these actions will help New Jersey residents safe while also ensuring that our voting rights are protected.

As part of the action, individuals who submitted required documents and who have been selected as district delegates or alternates by the respective presidential campaigns, if otherwise qualified under the requirements of the Delegate Selection Plan, will be approved by the NJDSC to appear as delegates on the June 2, 2020 primary election ballot.

We will continue to provide COVID-19/Coronavirus updates via email. For the most up to date information about the Coronavirus in New Jersey, follow the Department of Health COVID-19 Dashboard or keep up with the latest news on Governor Murphy's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
